“Friday Night Dinners” for Service Members in Recovery
The Friday Night dinners for 2024 are Feb. 9th, April 12th, Oct. 11th, and Dec. 6th.

Post 41 proudly partners with The Walter Reed Society, and Disabled American Veterans to host “Friday Night Dinners” for wounded, injured, and ill service members who are recovering at The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Since October 2003, the Aleethia Foundation and Walter Reed Society have partners with American Legion posts, organizations, private businesses, and individuals to provide over 62,000 meals to service members and their families who have participated in the “Friday Night Dinners” program. In 2023, the DAV assumed responsibility for coordinating these dinners. Wounded, injured, and ill service members are not only facing difficult medical problems, but they are away from their families and friends. A night out from the hospital helps them and any traveling family members to get away from their health issues for a short time and relax. This all helps in the healing process!

Lunch/Early Dinner & Happy Hour!
The Post 41 Kitchen is operated by Judi Bennett. For many years, Judi operated Charlie’s Bar and Grill which was directly across the street from Walter Reed on Georgia Avenue. She joined Post 41 in 2021 and operates our kitchen on a daily basis.
Wednesday Dinner & Ace of Hearts Nights
Every Wednesday evening, the kitchen opens at 6 pm. The Ace of Hearts Drawing is at 7 pm.
3rd Friday Shrimp & Fish Fry Nights
Every 3rd Friday of the Month at 6:00pm.
Thursday Night Steak Night
Every 3rd Thursday of the Month at 6:00pm.
Post 41 Holiday Pot Luck and Other Special Gatherings
Post 41 hosts an annual Holiday Gathering for members in December every year. In addition, we host periodic Fundraising Events that will be listed in our Calendar. On Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day, Post 41 Hosts a Pot Luck gathering, beginning at 3:00 pm
